Liverpool's Star Issues Statement to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that Salah apologised to the group of players in the wake of the fallout from his televised remarks.
The Fallout
Salah was left out from a vital match following voicing frustrations and suggesting his relationship with manager had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has chosen not to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the team's response stayed normal. “He was his usual self, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” he continued.
Jones also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “I get that there are different methods you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Positive Results
Their results have stayed unbeaten in the matches since the interview fallout. He feels the forward's comments were never meant to destabilise the squad.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a place of caring,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and starting to win games.”
