Nico O’Reilly A further assured display from the 20-year-old following his first cap versus Serbia. A teammate was unable to take the opportunity from an exquisite flick behind the opposing backline. The role looks secure so soon. 7/10

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning with the national team. Somewhat careless in possession but his whipped set-pieces were a threat. An effective pace-controller available to the coach to have versus defensive opponents. Shown a yellow for a rash challenge. 6

The midfielder Set-pieces on corner kicks and set-plays caused problems. Had license to move in left midfield only to be offside as the pass came in front of goal. Given a well-earned substitution on the hour mark. 6

The star midfielder Played in a high spot on the right and also did plenty of the hard yards. Displayed glimpses of brilliance but scuffed an effort wide. Replaced towards the end by a teammate, his rival, after being booked. 7/10

The winger Had England’s top opening of the first half, his shot excellently kept out from the opposing goalkeeper. As Quansah staying deep, it fell to him to offer an outlet on the right although his balls from the touchline were inconsistent. Taken off late in the match. 6

The captain The decisive figure scoring 77th and 78th finishes in an England shirt. His first a classic poacher’s finish while the second an excellent headed goal after peeling away off his defender. Aged 32, he’s only getting better and the side stand a real opportunity in the upcoming tournament with him up top. Eight

The attacker Had difficulty to influence play from the left. Was presented with a decent opportunity following a pass by the midfielder however Strakosha kept it out. Rashford had a greater an impact in his place. Five
